About this place
Will you go for simmered fish with rice, or choose it grilled? At Uoaki, the set-meal menu makes the style of preparation part of the choice. The simmered sablefish collar set costs ¥1,200. One diner who ordered the dish on its own said the rich, fatty collar and well-judged seasoning went perfectly with rice, making it a dish they wanted to eat again. For grilled fish, the hokke set costs ¥1,000. One lunchtime report described a generous, thick-fleshed hokke served with rice, clam miso soup, a small side dish and pickles.
For something fried, try the mixed-fry set, which includes prawn, squid and horse mackerel. The menu lists it at both ¥900 and ¥1,000, so check the price at the restaurant. Sashimi and horse mackerel tataki sets are also available, giving diners plenty of choice between grilled, simmered and fried fish. One diner reported that the sashimi selection changes from day to day, so it may be worth choosing with the day's catch in mind. Uoaki also serves à la carte dishes such as tuna with natto, fried chikuwa and clams steamed with sake, which can add another small dish to a meal. In the evening, you can pair a set meal with small plates, beer or sake.
